Dockside Container Yard

Just before Christmas my friend Deansy From the Internet™ asked for my help with building his gaming table. He has been collecting TONS of the excellent and sadly OOP Rackham shipping containers and decided to make a shipping yard. He primarily wants to use it for games of M.E.R.C.S, which uses a 3x2 table size, so decided to do a 3x3 with one foot of water on the dockside. The addition of piers and boats will extend its usefulness to games using a 3x3.

Anyway Dean took a bunch of pics of our progress which I am stealing to put here. It was 40 degrees Celsius the day we did this so paint/goop etc dried in about 5 mins, it is amazing how much you can get done in Satan's own weather, you could see the paint drying! Still a fair bit of painting on a bunch of stuff so a couple more working bees and this should be good to go!

This is me literally watching paint dry!

The resin pooled because of the heat. We have since poured a second coat which evened it out.

Malifaux: Redchapel Gang

One of our club members Will commissioned me to paint his Seamus crew for Malifaux. This was the first commission I have done and I am pretty happy with how it came out. Will seems pretty stoked with them too, so much so hat he commissioned me to paint his McMorurning crew and a bunch of other Resurrectionist models. In the end I had to stop taking commissions as it was taking up too much of time at the store.

He asked me to paint Seamus in the scheme of the Concept art in the rulebook. I haven't seen many people use this scheme which is a shame because I think it really suits the model. Seamus was another one of those models that I wasn't digging until I painted it. Now I think it is great and it practically painted itself.

Sybelle, along with all the Rotten Belles, are fantastic sculpts and were fun to paint. I got experiment with different dead flesh tones and got a lot out if it in terms of trying new techniques. I tried to shy   away from her usual black latex scheme and use something a bit more colorful to match the other Zombie Hookers.

The grave spirit I wanted to loo like a spirit. I wasn't sure how Will would react as it was a pretty bold departure from how the model is usually painted. Thankfully he loved the idea and I painted his Hanged model the same way.

I'll save the other individual pics for another post.

WIP: Costal Board

I started this display board all the way back in March, and unfortunately haven't really found time to finish it off yet. It is a full 6x4 ft board, so quite large, and as I intend it to be as detailed as I can make it will take some time to finish. Viv helped me with most of the basic construction, which included bulking out the main  board using cardboard boxes, white foam and waded newspaper, follower by plaster clothing the whole thing. An old school technique but perfect for something of this size. Someone (not me) broke the crane off it's base unfortunately, and my two attempts to glue it back on haven't worked too well. I'll try something stronger next time.

Both the Crane and the Trees are all magnetized for easy removal and replace, and the Lighthouse is also a separate piece. I have two of the three additional buildings, the Warehouse and the Manor house, started. I intend to build a forth building along with a stone bridge and a cannonade wall. Eventually I'll probably build a cargo barge to sit alongside the dock.

Here are some wip shots.

The Lighthouse lights up! A bike light allows it to blink or simply stay on

The Magnet allows the crane to rotate

Unpainted Seals!

So still a ton of work to go yet. I'll post finished pics when it's all done. Cheers!
